After spending three seasons in the iconic baking tent, comedian Matt Lucas confirmed today that he would be stepping away as co-host of “The Great British Bake Off” (aka “The Great British Baking Show” in the states). Lucas, who has presented the show alongside Noel Fielding for the past three seasons, explained he was leaving due to a schedule clash.

Lucas joined the “Bake Off” team in 2020, replacing Sandi Toksvig.

Following his announcement, judge Prue Leith responded.

I have absolutely loved working with you @RealMattLucas. Thank you for bringing so much laughter and fun to the tent. x Prue https://t.co/aY24n3HtYC

Fielding has since posted his thoughts about Lucas leaving to Instagram.

Channel 4 hasn’t announced who will replace Lucas yet. The former “Little Britain” star will still be seen on screen for the “Bake Off” Christmas specials, which are set to air on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day in the UK.

Seasons of “The Great British Baking Show” are available to stream on Netflix.
