Oscar Mayer Debuts Hot Dog Gelato- The Cold Dog

Hey, you know hot dogs? That ever-present summertime food best enjoyed around an outdoor grill with some friends and family, enjoying the sunshine while jokingly debating about which condiment is best (it’s mustard)? Have you ever thought to yourself, “I wish this was an ice cream”? Well, now it is.

Mayer has teamed up with Popbar, an ice-cream company that makes a variety of flavors and dips that may be mixed and matched, to create a gelato-based Cold Dog on a stick. It even has the illusion of mustard on the side made from a yellow drizzle (see, we told you it was the best condiment).

Inspired by Oscar Mayer’s “Stupid or Genius” campaign, the Cold Dog was apparently considered the winning Genius idea. We personally were hoping the Weiner Rake would win, but who are we to challenge their culinary mastery.

Everyone who tried it remarked on how much it really *did* taste like a hot dog, at least according to CNN.

If you too wish to experience what Jeanna Moos describes as “that lingering weiner aftertaste,” you’ll have to rush out and grab one soon. The strange and smoky product is only available for a limited time.
