Brush up on your French lessons, because “The Walking Dead“ is taking Daryl Dixon to France. The spin-off series will send Daryl (Norman Reedus), on new adventures in a new country with new zombie variants to deal with. What new troubles and friends await the motorbiking marksman?

“The Talking Dead” special gave us a preview into future plans for the series. Scott M. Gimple shared that a number of spin-offs in the works in the wake of “The Walking Dead’s” eleventh season finale. The rumor was that the spin-off would take place overseas. The story of Daryl Dixon will continue in the land of haute cuisine and fine wines.

Unfortunately Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) could not return for the series. No doubt deeply upsetting to many fans that had grown attached to Carol and Daryl’s relationship. She’ll be sorely missed as the iconic character.

Variants of zombies will also be introduced, which has viewers very curious as to what they’ll witness. Though one has to imagine it will be similar to the “special infected” in the popular first-person-shooter “Left 4 Dead”. So perhaps we’ll see zombies that possess some higher intelligence. Some that can sprint, poison, lure, or otherwise prove more cunning and difficult than our run-of-the-mill brain munchers.

Fans are excited to see what’s in store for our grungy hero, as Daryl will once again have to reinvent himself and adapt to his new situation. Since his introduction, fans have clamored for more Daryl. Now he gets his very own series for fans to appreciate.

While there’s no set release date for the spin-off, “The Walking Dead” and its branch series’ are available on AMC+, with “Tales of the Walking Dead” premiering on August 14th.
