Charlize Theron (“Atomic Blonde”) and Alfonso Cuarón (“Gravity”) will be teaming up to produce the new film “Jane,” based on the life of renowned science fiction author, Phillip K. Dick. Isa Hackett, Dick’s daughter, is also attached as a producer.
This Amazon Prime Video feature project will revolve around Dick’s relationship with his twin sister, Jane. Unfortunately, Jane passed away after only 6 weeks of life. Her death took a serious toll on Dick, and heavily influenced his creative works.
Dick’s work is no stranger to big screen adaptations. His iconic works have served as inspiration for films like “Blade Runner,” “Total Recall,” “Minority Report,” and Amazon’s “The Man in The High Castle.” The later of which Hackett was also a producer on.
“Jane” intends to be “a moving, suspenseful and darkly humorous story about a woman’s unique relationship with her brilliant, but troubled twin, who also happens to be the celebrated novelist Philip K. Dick. While attempting to rescue her brother from predicaments both real and imagined, Jane plunges deeper and deeper into a fascinating world of his creation.”
“The story of Jane has been with me for as long as I can remember,” Hackett told the Hollywood Reporter. “Jane, my father’s twin sister who died a few weeks after birth, was at the center of his universe. Befitting a man of his unique imagination, this film will defy the conventions of a biopic and embrace the alternate reality Philip K. Dick so desperately desired—one in which his beloved sister survived beyond six weeks of age. It is her story we will tell, her lens through which we will see him and his imagination. There is no better way to honor him than to grant him his wish, if only for the screen.”
While nothing is concrete yet it is believed “Jane” may have Cuarón directing, and Theron in a lead. We’ll do our best to keep you updated on this and other news.
