Member of Russian punk rock band LOVI RHYTHM Artyom Mayer has made a brand new guitar. For his Copper Guitars & Workshops business, Mayer has created some pretty impressive guitars in the past. He made one two years ago out of iPhones. Also, a guitar from ramen in 2019. So, how about one out of McDonald’s french fries?
This guitar is especially interesting, considering McDonald’s pulled their brand out of Russia following the ongoing invasion of Ukraine. Some of the old fast food stores have already turned into new restaurants. The materials were purchased in a back alley deal, where Mayer carries off a suitcase of fries.
To make the guitar, Mayer used chicken wire to form a mold, and dumped in fries with glue. More glue was used in places where the structure was wobbly, so fries didn’t fall off. After the body was complete, he marked where he needed to drill and carve to put the technical elements. The finished product has double humbucker pickups, and doesn’t sound half bad!
This is a very impressive work of art, and one that reminds us that we’re kind of hungry right now, actually.
LOVI RHYTHM formed in the city of Istra, in February 2011. In 2015, with a new line-up, the group recorded a single, “America,” after which they took another vacation. You can hear the song playing in the background of Mayer’s video.
