Knott’s Berry Farm is going to shut down one of it’s most popular rides this month. Montezooma’s Revenge is going to be closed on February 7th for structural fixes and other maintenance. They hope to have it up and running by 2023 if things go as planned.

The coaster is a classic Schwarzkopf flywheel shuttle loop coaster which has operated at Knott’s Berry Farm in California since 1978. It was the first flywheel-launched roller coaster in the world and is the last ride of its kind still operating in the U.S. The launched shuttle coaster reaches a top speed of 55mph and features one vertical loop. It was named after a performance group that used to play at the park, Montezuma’s Revenge.
Knott’s says if you want to ride it before it closes, come down before the 7th. But I think I’d prefer if they did the updates and restructuring before I got on it. I mean, there has to be a reason for maintenance, so I’ll wait.
