Jason Momoa May Replace The Rock in “Fast 10”

After an unsuccessful plea from Vin Diesel to bring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson back for one last ride, The Rock’s refusal has forced the franchise to move on from hopes of a rocky reunion. Luckily for Diesel and friends, there is no shortage of high profile actors that would jump at the chance to join the longstanding, billion dollar franchise. Enter Aquaman himself.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jason Momoa is in final talks to join the next (and possibly final) “Fast & Furious” chapter, “Fast 10.”

Since the film’s script is still being written and finalized, there is no word yet as to who Momoa will be playing, or whether or not he will be a villain or hero. My guess? He’ll be a long lost brother of Hobbs’ (The Rock’s character in the franchise) who, after the untimely death of Hobbs, suspects the team as the culprits but discovers that they are on the same side and ends up joining them in the end. Because when you join the cast of a “Fast and Furious” movie, you’re family.

Look, the series isn’t exactly high brow, and I write that synopsis as a joke but I’m also not above putting money on it being pretty damn close to what actually happens. And despite my misgivings about “F9,” I’ll still be the first to the box office when the next entry comes out. I don’t care how dumb or how bad these films get, I’ll watch Diesel and friends race in nursing homes if that’s how long it continues. I’m part of the problem, not the solution. I’m not better, and the tease of adding charismatic and charming Jason Momoa to the mix?

Give me the NOS, shoot me into to space, and fire up the family BBQ!

“Fast 10” begins filming this spring, with a tentative release date of May 19th, 2023.
