We don’t want to be a pie, but we do want to watch “Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget” and another “Wallace and Gromit” sequel! The 20+ years in the making sequel to “Chicken Run” is heading to Netflix. Aardman Studios is teaming up with the streaming giant to produce the poultry picture. Nick Park (director of the original “Chicken Run”) will actually be working on a different project- continuing the journey of his beloved characters “Wallace & Gromit.”
For “Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget,” Ginger will be voiced by Thandiwe Newton, and Rocky by Zachary Levi (“Shazam“). Their brood has grown as Bella Ramsey (“Hilda,” “The Last of Us“) will be voicing their daughter, Molly. The sequel is taking place after their daring escape from the farm in the first film. It’ll focus on a new threat to ALL chicken kind. Returning to the coop are Jane Horrocks, Imelda Staunton, and Lynn Ferguson. “Flushed Away” director Sam Fell will be helming the stop-motion sequel.
As for Wallace and Gromit, the film’s logline is:
when Wallace invents a “smart gnome” that seems to develop a mind of its own…As events spiral out of control, it falls to Gromit to put aside his qualms and battle sinister forces – or Wallace may never be able to invent again!”
Aardman and Netflix most recently teamed up on the 2021 holiday short “Robin Robin.”
“Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget” will debut on Netflix in 2023. The next adventure from “Wallace & Gromit” will come to Netflix in 2024 (except in the UK where it will debut on BBC first).
