The last painful wound of 2021 came on the very last day, as we lost philanthropist, comedian and all-round sweet old lady, Betty White. Passing at the age of 99, and still not old enough many say, White was a Los Angeles fixture for many of her century of years.
Among the many places touched forever by the presence of Ms. White, the local tourist attraction Pink’s Hot Dogs on La Brea & Melrose is coming out to honor her once more. White was a long time patron of the hot dog stand, which is so popular it sees queues down the street almost any time of day. While many celebrity visitors are honored on the walls of the little building, White is the only one with two photos. Pink’s even introduced a dog named after White in 2010.
White’s own favorite order, the simple Betty White’s Naked Dog, is now helping benefit one of White’s favorite places, the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens. Pink’s has promised to donate the full purchase price of every Naked dog sold to the Zoo. At the price of $5.20, ‘Betty White’s Naked Dog’ is exactly that, a sizzling foot long dog and plain bun, the picky eaters dream or the food artist’s blank canvas.
Get your Naked Dog in honor of the late, great Ms. White and supporting the LA Zoo now through January 9th.
