Banner Butter and Pop-Tarts recently collaborated on the ultimate food team up. I had never tried butter on a Pop-Tart before, but after this I’m a changed person. They sent me a package of the exclusive set to try the flavor combinations, and there’s no going back now.
I’ll never eat a plain Pop-Tart again. Here’s what they sent me.

First thing, this box was huge. Like bigger than my toddler huge. In fact, I thought they sent me a whole toaster! The box had three flavors of Pop-Tarts- strawberry, chocolate fudge, and brown sugar cinnamon. The butters included were honey habanero (exclusive to this kit), cinnamon, cardamom and ginger, balsamic fig and caramelized onion, sea salt, strawberry, and chocolate. I tried them all.
Sea Salt
To start I tried the Sea Salt Banner Butter on top of a warm toasted Strawberry Pop-Tart. Well, first I buttered the bottom of one because I thought the frosting was not to be buttered but my husband soon converted me to putting it on top. It was SOO GOOD! My first introduction to the collaboration and already I wanted more. You’ll notice I don’t have any pictures for some of these because I instead ate them before I thought of taking them. They were THAT good.
Strawberry
Another great option that tasted good on either the Chocolate Fudge Pop-Tart or the one they meant for it to be paired with, the Brown Sugar Cinnamon. This had a sweet buttery taste to it with strawberry flavor packed in. A delight to add and a delight to consume.
Chocolate

This Chocolate butter went quite well with the Brown Sugar Cinnamon. The butters were refrigerated so I literally just opened it and painted it on. This butter I was curious about because I’d never heard of a chocolate butter. In fact I was only aware of the “salted” and “unsalted” versions of it at the grocery store. But it was a treat that I’ll never forget. One-Hundred percent recommend.
Balsamic Fig and Caramelized Onion
After putting this on a Strawberry Pop-Tart I realized that the savory and sweet combination was definitely the best idea anyone’s ever had. This combination hit all of my tastebuds in just the right way. This again was eaten so fast I forgot to take pictures. But if you can picture the melted butter on a Strawberry Pop-Tart and the sweet filling hitting your mouth the same time as a savory onion butter you’ll be on the right track.
Cinnamon, Cardamom and Ginger
This one was my least favorite but that’s mostly due to the ginger. Just the name ginger is a put off but I did try it. If you’re curious, the ginger isn’t so overpowering that it ruins the effect of putting it on a Chocolate Fudge Pop-Tart. It just wasn’t for me.
Honey Habanero (crafted exclusively for this collab)

And now, we’ve come to the very best Banner Butter in this collection and one that was made exclusively for this collaboration. One that we hope will be available outside of it soon because WOW. You wouldn’t expect this to work but it had just the right amount of heat paired with the sweetness of chocolate fudge. This one was by far my favorite combination and the one I saved for last in this review.
Where can you buy?
Unfortunately the kits sold out rather quickly, but if you’re looking for a way to try them Banner Butters sells most of the butters on their website. And if you don’t know where to get Pop-Tarts, they’re at most major grocery stores. Heck, they’re even in 7-Elevens. These artisan butters would make an excellent gift for a foodie who’s never tried butters like these. They’ve definitely opened my eyes to what’s out there and now I can’t wait to try more food combinations.
