Ok so I’m not proud of this, but I will sometimes listen to Kidz Bop. Hear me out though, I actually have kids and my daughter has been weird about curse words lately. So this was my best option to be able to listen to the tune of popular songs while also appeasing her. I can just sing the real lyrics in my head while she isn’t complaining at me that a curse word was sung. Now, I’ll be able to listen to Lil Nas X‘s “Montero” without anyone having a conniption. Unfortunately however, this one’s going to be hard not to laugh at.
Like other Kidz Bop songs the lyrics have been adapted to fit a more general audience. No more singing of “cocaine and hang out with your friends” or “I only f* the ones I envy.”
Here’s a snippet of what they say in one of the more lewd verses.
Original: “I wanna sell what you’re buying, I wanna feel on yo’ ass in Hawaii, I want that jet lag from f*cking and flying, Shoot a child in your mouth while I’m riding.”
And the Kidz Bop version… “I wanna sell what you’re buyin’, I wanna lie on the beach in Hawaii, I want that jet lag from livin’ and flyin’, Put a smile on your face while we’re dining’.”
Suddenly it’s no longer about f*ng the Devil and now about some strange kids vacation. Which is fine. It’s one of their more creative adaptations sure. Kind of along the lines when they adapted “New Rules” by Dua Lipa.
