Confirmed: Amber Heard is Returning as Mera in “Aquaman 2”

Amber Heard will be returning for “Aquaman 2” alongside Jason Momoa. It’s not what a lot of people wanted, but it is what it is. Many Johnny Depp fans will be chomping at the bit to start petitions (again), and I can see the rampage now. But the studio’s decision not to drop her is exactly that, the studio’s decision.

The plot is still heavily under wraps. What we do know is that they are planning for the “Aquaman 2” to come out in 2022. They are set to start production in July, and we will see the return of not only Amber Heard as Mera but Patrick Wilson as Orm, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta. And of course Jason Momoa as Aquaman.

Is Amber Heard Returning a Good Thing?

Absolutely, yes. For the sake of continuity in the series of DC films, this is the right thing to do. Also it’s not fair to her as a person to hold what happened in her personal life against her. If you want to go by what the court says then it should be pointed out that every single appeal that Depp put forth in the court has gotten overturned. And the fact that Disney dropped all of Johnny Depp’s contracts immediately speaks volumes.

Many people fault her for the demise of Johnny Depp’s career. It’s no secret that the two of them put together turned out to be a toxic relationship. While there was violence on both sides, depending on which media outlet you follow you’ll see most of them focused on Amber’s alleged abuse towards Johnny. (Even though Depp admitted he did several of the things she accused him of.) She was the focus of a witch hunt because “How could our precious Johnny do anything bad?”

Depp’s defense has always been that she was using him for clout. But even if that were the case she would have (at the very least) had to be one heck of a team player for the studio to bring her back with all of this going on behind her name. I have no doubt that she is an excellent actress and shows up and gets the job done which is why she’s returning.

It’s also worth noting every single one of Depp’s appeals in his multiple legal cases have been thrown out.

    Let’s Be Real

Another thing I want to make completely clear is that there was a 23 year age gap. You can’t tell me that Johnny starting to seek her out wasn’t because she was a hot young thing who would make him look good. If this were any other couple and you saw them you would say he was grooming her. So I’m not sure why no one’s talking about this.

When they met she was just 23 years old. The human brain isn’t fully developed until the age of 25. This was back in 2009. They started dating in 2012, and were married April of 2015. Heard filed for divorce from Depp in May 2016.

Let me tell you something- it doesn’t take long to figure out a relationship is going no where, and though she filed a year later, she was probably counting the red flags WAY before that.
