If “Mortal Kombat” Does Well, More Sub-Zero Could Happen

Today marks the release of the R-rated “Mortal Kombat” reboot film. Hitting HBO Max last night around midnight, the majority of early reviews were positive. No one was expecting this to be a revelation of a release, but we were hoping for something of substance. Good news though for those of you who really loved it- the possibility of 4 more films.

Joe Taslim, who played Sub-Zero in this new fighty flick, recently spoke with Variety about the project. He apparently likes to get hit in the face while filming? To each his own. But the big thing revealed is talk of a contract deal for 4 more films if this one does well.

The excerpt from the Variety interview reads:

Taslim says he’s already signed options for four more “Mortal Kombat” films, if Warner Bros. decides to move forward with a franchise. But it’s his 10-year-old son’s opinion that matters most to him. “He watched the movie and he was like, ‘You know what? This one, well, I think I give you a seven,’” Taslim says. “I was like, ‘Yeah. Seven is good, seven is good.’”

While we wanted more from “Mortal Kombat,” we did enjoy it. Wanting more is a good thing, especially when there are additional stories to tell.

Though she be but little, she is fierce.
