“Space Jam: A New Legacy” Official Full Trailer is Here

While we’re still not sure why someone thought “Space Jam” needed a remake, a new trailer for the film just released. Starring LeBron James, the live-action-animated hybrid film looks to continue the sporting tradition of the Tune Squad vs the Monstaaars.

This official trailer for “Space Jam: A New Legacy” also offers us our first look at James in animated form.

And, Mr. Bugs Bunny wearing Marvin the Martian’s helmet?

But. Why the heck does Iron Giant show up? Not that we’re complaining, because we LOVE him. It’s just…odd. Kinda like how in one shot on the court, you can see Droogs from “A Clockwork Orange,” some notable “Game of Thrones” characters, and even a War Boy from “Mad Mad: Fury Road.” The Scooby Doo gang is there, as well as Fred Flintstone and his big purple ride. If you squint, you can also see Cheetara from “ThunderCats.” It’s almost like “Ready Player One” decided to add basketball?

    Official synopsis:

This transformational journey is a manic mashup of two worlds that reveals just how far some parents will go to connect with their kids. When LeBron and his young son Dom are trapped in a digital space by a rogue A.I., LeBron must get them home safe by leading Bugs, Lola Bunny and the whole gang of notoriously undisciplined Looney Tunes to victory over the A.I.’s digitized champions on the court: a powered-up roster of professional basketball stars as you’ve never seen them before. It’s Tunes versus Goons in the highest-stakes challenge of his life, that will redefine LeBron’s bond with his son and shine a light on the power of being yourself. The ready-for-action Tunes destroy convention, supercharge their unique talents and surprise even ‘King’ James by playing the game their own way.

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
