Level Forward has acquired the theatrical stage rights to Walter Tevis’ novel “The Queen’s Gambit.” Published in 1983, the book was the basis for the mini series on Netflix. Get ready to see some song and dance as well as chess games being played on the big stage.

“The Queen’s Gambit” being one of Netflix’s most popular series last year. It followed the story of Beth Harmon played, by Anya Taylor-Joy. Beth goes from playing chess in the orphanage’s basement to becoming one of the top players in the world. While she reaches her goals she also deals with addiction and loss. All while trying to combat the prejudices in a male dominated world.

There was even this amazing art installation at Los Angeles’ Union Station, celebrating the series.

The show won Golden Globes for Best Television Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television, and for Anya Taylor-Joy’s lead performance. As of now, there are no names attached to the stage production yet, but this is something we will be keeping an eye on.
