Lady Whistledown has the Scoop on “Bridgerton” Season 2

With news from Netflix that their historically-themed romance series, “Bridgerton” was watched by at least 63 million households within the first month of it’s premiere at the end of December, the show’s fans have been eager to hear of the fate of the series. A missive, penned by the series’ as-yet unseen narrator Lady Whistledown (played by Dame Julie Andrews) in true “Bridgerton” fashion, will be spinning it’s fandom into a frenzy of excitement.

The epistle announces that there will indeed be a season 2 (no great shock there, given the amount of buzz and viewership that’s been surrounding the series, based on a series of novels by Julia Quinn). While the announcement doesn’t give a timeline for the premiere of a sophomore season, it does note that production will begin this spring.

So if COVID-19 doesn’t intrude too horribly, the prospect of it returning to screens by some time over the 2021 holiday season isn’t unfeasible.

You can read the letter in full below:

While the first season centered around Daphne Bridgerton’s (Phoebe Dynevor) inaugural turn on the marriage market, the second season looks to take up moving the center of the action to Lord Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) and his struggles to reconcile his place in society with his love for opera singer Siena Rosso (Sabrina Bartlett).

The series also stars Nicola Coughlan (Penelope Featherington), Claudia Jessie (Eloise Bridgerton), Ruby Barker (Marina Thompson),Adjoa Andoh (Lady Danbury), Golda Rosheuvel (Queen Charlotte), Luke Thompson (Benedict Bridgerton), Luke Newton (Colin Bridgerton), Ruby Stokes (Francesca Bridgerton), Will Tilston (Gregory Bridgerton), Florence Hunt (Hyacinth Bridgerton), Ruth Gemmell  (Lady Violet Bridgerton), Bessie Carter (Prudence Featherington), Harriet Cains (Philipa Featherington), Polly Walker (Lady Portia Featherington), Ben Miller (Lord Featherington), Sabrina Bartlett (Siena Rosso), Martins Imhangbe (Will Mondrich), and Lorraine Ashbourne (Mrs. Varley).

Season 1 of “Bridgerton” is available for streaming now, only on Netflix.
