Thought food combos couldn’t get any weirder?  Enter McDonald’s, with their Spam and Oreo burgers.  The burgers consist of two slices of Spam (cooked pork) topped with crushed Oreos and their signature burger sauce.

    McDonald’s China

This peculiar burger was only available for purchase on Monday, December 20th at McDonald’s in China, and sold for 13.14 yen ($2).  They only offered 400,000 of the burger across 3,700 of their branches, and a lot of them were sold out by noon.

McDonald’s Corp. did mention that the burger was a part of a series “members only” and their subsequent promotions.

McDonald’s opened up the Chinese social media platform Weibo for people to leave their verdicts on the burger.  There were a lot of mixed reviews of the Spam and Oreo burger.

Some were surprised with the taste and though it was a good treat.

“Oreos and luncheon meat are surprisingly delicious. I thought the sweetness and the savory wouldn’t match but it was unexpectedly harmonious and tasty,” one Weibo user said.

Others weren’t so fond of the combo.

“When you hate someone but have to invite him to dinner, you can ask him to eat McDonald’s Oreo lunchmeat burger,” another Weibo user said.

What do you think of this food combo?  Would you try the Spam and Oreo burger?  Let us know in the comments!
