This coming election holds a lot of stress for everyone. No matter what side you’re on or who your voting for the pressure of who might win is palpable. And to add to that NASA says that an asteroid is headed towards Earth just one day before the election on November 3rd, 2020.
There’s no need to worry however. Due to the size which is about the size of a refrigerator they are expecting it to just burn off in the atmosphere, if it even enters our atmosphere. NASA is calling the asteroid 2018VP1.

They are telling people not to fret because it’s highly likely that it will just miss us. In fact there’s only about a 0.41% likelihood of entering Earth’s atmosphere.
The asteroid in question has a history of zooming by Earth dating back to 1970. And now that it’s completed it’s two year trip around the sun it’s crossing paths with us again. It most recently flew by us in November of 2018 when it was seen by California’s Palomar Observatory.
It is quite far from our atmosphere and sits in a range of 4,800 to 260,000 miles of our atmosphere. The International Space Station for example sits at about 254 miles out of our atmosphere, so again chances are low that it will impact us or even enter our atmosphere.
