7-Eleven Cancels Free Slurpee Day Due to Coronavirus

Another long standing tradition on the level for some of Comic-Con is being cancelled, sort of. 7-Eleven announced that they would be canceling Free Slurpee Day that occurs on July 11th due to “the uncertainties associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.” It’s a smart move on their part not to bring so much traffic in the store when we are supposed to be practicing social distancing. But don’t worry, you’re still going to get a free slurpee in July.

They will be sending out coupons for a free Slurpee to those who have the 7-Eleven app. Those of you who already have it because of the buy so many get one free coffees will have the opportunity to get your free summer treat. And if you don’t have the app I fully recommend it. It’s great for morning hazelnut coffee.

“Fear not – we are still giving away free Slurpee drinks this summer. On July 1, 7Rewards® loyalty app members (yep… all 33 million of them), will receive one FREE MEDIUM Slurpee coupon in their account. The personalized offer is redeemable the entire month of July, allowing you the opportunity to treat yourself when it’s convenient for you, while helping us practice physical distancing in stores.”

“If you’re skipping the store altogether, you can still find birthday-worthy delivery deals during the month of July on the 7NOW® delivery app. From July 7 to July 11, whole pizzas are only $5**, and a FREE Slurpee drink is redeemable with your order.***”

    7-Eleven

There are a lot of things changing all over due to COVID-19 and part of that is the use of drink machines in general. Earlier this year McDonald’s announced that they would be getting rid of the self serve machines or working it so that they would only have one employee serving from it. It’s a new method for in-store dining that they are implementing because of the concern of spreading coronavirus.

Other places that are doing in store dining like IHOP are places that serve you drinks anyhow so they are pretty much safe. 7-Eleven making this effort to promote social distancing is already making me feel more comfortable going there. Plus if you pump gas there they provide you with napkins to use over the pump so that’s also a big relief if you’re worried about germs.
