News of a new GI Joe spinoff was announced today by the Hollywood Reporter.
Snake Eyes is meant to wipe the slate clean. Starring Crazy Rich Asians breakout Henry Golding as the most popular and mysterious member of the elite anti-terrorist group known as G.I. Joe. The movie is directed by Robert Schwentke, is meant to create a new era in the franchise for Paramount and Hasbro.
Details are scarce but we know this was announced as an expansion of Snake Eyes but not a direct sequel. Which means we will get to see an entirely different story in the same universe play out.
Screenwriters Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse will be penning the script. They previously wrote Race, Seberg, and a draft of the Edge of Tomorrow sequel. Lorenzo di Bonaventura will be producing.
