After successful trials of top 10 lists in Mexico and the U.K., Netflix is going to make the top 10 lists feature international.
How Does it Work?
The top 10 lists will reflect which titles are doing well on the streaming site in your country. They will reset and be updated daily. Netflix calculates the popularity of a show or movie based on the amount of views it receives. In order for a title to gain a view, a person must choose to watch it for at least 2 minutes. Netflix is not going to display the viewership data.
Top 10 Display
This is how the lists will appear on the site:
In addition to the main list, there will be two other lists for the top 10 TV shows and movies. All of the lists will include Netflix originals, as well as licensed titles.
When a series or movie makes it to one of the lists, a badge will be displayed in its top right corner.
“When you watch a great movie or TV show, you share it with family and friends, or talk about it at work, so other people can enjoy it too.”
From Netflix’s Media Center, Cameron Johnson
