America Ferrera Exits ‘Superstore’ After Season 6 Renewal Announced

What are we going to do without Amy on Superstore? Her departure was announced just after the season six renewal went through. Season five will be her last one and many of the cast members are feeling melancholic. Especially her real life and onscreen friend Lauren Ash who plays the quirky character Dina.

In the Instagram post Lauren tells us about how the entire cast had become a family.

“Well, huge day for Superstore. Where to even begin? The cast started this journey as strangers and quickly became family. The idea that one of our family members isn’t going to be around anymore after 5 years, well, that’s tough for me to accept. Cause the thing is, as Dina and Amy’s friendship grew, so did Lauren and America’s.”

“It’s not gonna be the same without her,” she continues, “But Superstore has always done an amazing job of reflecting real life situations and challenges. And these kinds of things are a part of life. People we love have to move away or move on all the time. And it sucks. And it’s heartbreaking. But it’s a real part of life.”

America is now pregnant and will soon be welcoming a precious life into this world. And for some people that kind of change means re-evaluating what kind of life you’re living and what kind of life you want. It’s only natural for her to want to take a break and spend time with the little one. This doesn’t mean she’s gone forever, but it does mean she’s taking a break right now.
