It’s really hard to get off our phones these days. Mostly because a lot of us work from them. I know I do, whether or not it’s writing articles or checking in with co-workers I’m pretty much always on the phone. Which is good for me because I can get things done but not really ideal for the people I’m around. The good thing is that an engineer made a distraction free cell phone that can be used as a primary line. So when you need to put the phone down for the night, you can switch and if it’s a real emergency they can call you.
Justine Haupt said in a blog post that her intention was to replace her regular phone.
“Why a rotary cellphone? Because in a finicky, annoying, touchscreen world of hyperconnected people using phones they have no control over or understanding of, I wanted something that would be entirely mine, personal, and absolutely tactile, while also giving me an excuse for not texting. “
The neat thing is that instead of a button on the side there is an actual switch, so if you’re worried about butt dialing someone with the rotary chances are nil if you have that switch turned off. Plus I don’t know about you but the nostalgic factor of dialing a rotary is pretty tempting. My Nana used to have a rotary phone that I would love to make calls on.
