I know that in the past the tomatometer on rottentomatoes has gotten a lot of kick back in the past. But that doesn’t mean that people who want to go see a movie just stop using it. And one of the biggest curiosities this week is the Sonic The Hedgehog Movie. Bringing Jim Carrey’s wacky self into the mix for the film was a great move and it seems that people who have gone to see the film genuinely like it. The film is trending at a solid 70% and moving upward, and it’s only been out in theaters for well, today.
Certified Fresh is 75% and with only 50 something reviews it just might get there. Usually if it’s a terrible movie we know by the first few reviewers. But luckily since Sonic has a clear history and fan base there aren’t likely to be many trolls. Not like when Captain Marvel came out and they had to rethink their whole system for rating. Now only people that have actually seen the movie are allowed to rate it.
The synopsis for the film is “Based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega, SONIC THE HEDGEHOG tells the story of the world’s speediest hedgehog as he embraces his new home on Earth. In this live-action adventure comedy, Sonic and his new best friend Tom (James Marsden) team up to defend the planet from the evil genius Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) and his plans for world domination. The family-friendly film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.”
While Sonic officially comes out in theaters tomorrow there are a few places showing it tonight. I know I have my tickets for tonight and am super excited to see it. After the redesign(Thank Goodness) the film looks a lot better. And my family and I are so excited to see the little guy onscreen.
Tell us in the comments if you’re looking forward to seeing the movie!
