It is with a heavy heart that I must write that Christopher Tolkien, the son of J.R.R Tolkien has passed away at the age of 95. Tolkien society on social media was first to report of Christopher’s passing.
Christopher’s was born in 1924 to J.R.R. Tolkien and Edith Tolkien. He assisted his dad with the editing of Lord of the Rings and even went on to expand the universe for his father. He served in the military and went on to Trinity College in Oxnard to continue on with his schooling.
When his father passed away in the 70’s Christopher took it upon himself to continue his father’s legacy and get his father’s work published. Which brought us the wonderful writings of Middle Earth.
Christopher thank you so much for coming forth and helping your father bring something that we all love so thoroughly. I know your legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all. I know everyone in the fandom right now it’s crying out in anguish for your death. But I do know we are also rejoicing because you helped your father bring so much to this world.
