Joaquin Phoenix, the actor that recently won a Golden Globe for Best Actor for the movie Joker, was arrested at the lastest of Jane Fonda’s “Fire Drill Fridays.”  The protests are held at Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. and protest for climate change.  They began back in November, and since then, many celebrities have been arrested. Both The Washington Post and TMZ have reported this development.

Hannah Jewell of The Washington Post had the ground news covered:

In the last few months, the Capitol police have arrested Lily Tomlin, Sam Waterston, Ted Danson, Diane Lane and Sally Field.  They were taken into custody for blocking areas of the Capitol. Jane Fonda has been arrested five times. However, these arrests don’t stick.

Due to multiple celebrities getting arrested at this protest, it has gained a lot of media coverage.  Jane Fonda does not mind using her status as a celebrity to bring awareness and promote activism. It is seemingly working, as many celebrities have joined in as well.

Did you see Joker?  What do you think about Joaquin Phoenix at the protests?  Let us know in the comments!
