The New Zealand Herald has reportedly seen John Cho, Mustafa Shakir, and other stars of Netflix’s upcoming live-action Cowboy Bebop series in Auckland. Even Tristan Liu posted about it on Instagram.

John Cho is showing a great amount of hair growth which is likely proof that his hair will be matching the lead character Spike Spiegle. Mustafa Shakir, who will be playing Jet Black, has also been spotted in Piha Beach. Daniella Pineda, who who will star as Faye Valentine, was also seen in Whitianga. Ein is for certain going to be a Welsh Corgi. It’s already been confirmed. No surprise breeds thrown in there.

in the nearly three years i've been working on it, there has not been a single day where ein was anything other than a welsh corgi. #CowboyBebop

Scriptwriter,- Chris Yost will be writing the scripts (duh). The Netflix series will have creator and director Shinichiro Watanabe as creative consultant so he will be the most in charge as to how close the series will follow the original. Alex Garcia Lopez (Netflix’s Daredevil and Punisher series) will be directing the first two episodes.

New Zealand-based stunt coordinator Allan Poppleton of Cunning Stunts also shared a video of the cast and crew training for some stunt scenes via Instagram as well.

Here’s how Netflix describes the new series:

Based on the worldwide phenomenon from Sunrise Inc., Cowboy Bebop is the jazz-inspired, genre-bending story of Spike Spiegel, Jet Black, Faye Valentine and Radical Ed: a rag-tag crew of bounty hunters on the run from their pasts as they hunt down the solar system’s most dangerous criminals. They’ll even save the world…for the right price.
