Winter is Coming in “Angry Birds Movie 2”

The Angry Birds Movie 2 is a computer-animated film based on the video game that is scheduled for release on August 16, 2019. Now in the first teaser trailer for the film we get a glimpse of the new villain of the movie, Zeta (Leslie Jones).

Zeta is a large purple bird who lives on a polar island that is home to a number of seals. Although her Ice Palace looks pretty in an opening montage set to Vanilla Ice’s “Ice Ice Baby,” we soon see that all of the snow and ice make things difficult for Zeta. Fed up with the ice encasing everything, she declares, “I’m done living on this frozen, seal infested island.” Next thing we know she is lobbing giant ice balls at the island inhabited by the Angry Birds. How will they cope with this assault? We don’t know, although one character remarks: “We’re gonna need a bigger slingshot.”

The returning cast includes Jason Sudeikis (Red), Josh Gad (Chuck), Bill Hader (Leonard/King Mudbeard), Danny McBride (Bomb), and Peter Dinklage (Mighty Eagle). The original Angry Birds movie made $352 million globally to become the second highest-grossing video game adaptation.

So watch out, winter is coming this summer for the Angry Birds.

I am still waiting for that blue police box to take me on a star trek to a galaxy far, far away. Until then I will have to content myself with fantasy and sci-fi adventures from books, movies, and TV shows.
