For many the dream behind collecting comic books is to build up an impressive collection. Something you can retreat to and just look at once in a while. For one man this dream turned into a nightmare upon visiting his storage unit in Boca Raton, Florida.
Pedigree Comics‘ comic art consignment director Randy Lawrence wrote to Bleedingcool.com and allowed them to share a letter to the public.
“I had probably the worst day today that we all fear. 439 CGC graded books were STOLEN from my indoor air-conditioned double locked storage unit. As you all know me for many years I have strived to put together the best Batman & Detective Comic collection out there. I have been the number one registered set on both titles for many years with CGC.”
All I can say is I hope he had them insured because man what a loss.
He went on in the letter to say that he is devastated, calling it his “nest egg”. No kidding the amount of work that he put into that collection must have been pure dedication. He wants people to contact him if they see any of the comics that could be his listed for sale in the near future.
