With Halloween almost upon us, it’s traditional to watch some spooky movies to get into the holiday spirit. With that being said, even the kiddos like to get into the mood. So, here’s a list of the top 5 spooky movies this season you can watch with the fam.

    5. Goosebumps

Based on those awesomely creepy books we enjoyed as kids, Goosebumps brings to life all the creatures that hunted our imaginations to the big screen. A young teen named Zach moves next door to Hannah and instantly becomes smitten. Little does he know, Hannah is the daughter of famous author R.L. Stine. He unwittingly unleashes all of the creatures from the Goosebumps series when trying to read one of the original texts.  Watch as they team up to save the town from certain doom and try to return all the creatures to the books the came from.

    4. Monster House

In this neighborhood, everyone knows to stay away from one house. But D.J. A young boy with a wild imagination, is convinced that the big bad Mr. Nebbercracker is up to no good. With the help of his friends, D.J. finds himself in the cross-hairs of an unexpected adversary: The House itself! Will they survive the living homestead long enough to solve the mystery?

    3. ParaNorman

Norman is not like other kids. Hes awkward, strange, and oh yeah, talks to ghosts. When an evil Witche’s curse is awakened, so is an old-town tale of zombies. It’s up to Norman to solve the riddle and bring eternal Peace to both the Witch and the centuries-old zombies who roam free.

    2. The Nightmare Before Christmas

A wonderful cult classic beloved by many, this dual threat movie is perfect to ring in the Halloween spirit (It also doubles as a Christmas Movie!). This is the tale of Jack the Pumpkin King, proclaimed ruler of Halloween Town responsible for organizing the fright of the holiday each year. Jack becomes weary of the same routine year after year and ends up in Christmas Town, the land of Santa, candy canes, and yule tide merriment. When he decides to take over Christmas, he tasks every ghoul, ghost, and monster of Halloween Town to help him make Christmas a success. Will he realize his folly before it’s too late?

    1. Hocus Pocus

Undoubtedly one of the best family-friendly Halloween movies  ever made, Hocus Pocus is sure to be a spooky hit in your house this year. Max is a salty teen who’s family just moved from sunny Cali to Salem. When he hears of the Sanderson sisters, a trio of Witches executed in the 1690s, Max balks at the fable and visits the old cabin where the sisters supposedly lived. After lighting the black flame candle and restoring the Witches to life, it’s up to Max and his gang to stop the trio from sucking the souls out of all the children of Salem before sunrise. This movie will surely put a spell on you…(Pun Intended).

So, there it is guys and ghouls. Round up the kiddos, grab your candy corn and salty treats, turn the lights low, and enjoy your Halloween Movie Marathon this weekend!
