The Godzilla Sequel’s Trailer Has Monsters Galore

This year’s Comic Con isn’t just hosting everyone’s favorite comic book heroes. We’ve got monsters knocking on the door!

Five long years after Hollywood (successfully) rebooted Godzilla, we’ve got the first trailer for the sequel, Godzilla: King of the Monsters. And it looks epic! Godzilla returns, now joined by Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah, for some city-smashing destruction. Oddly enough, this trailer aims to show off the beauty and majesty it has in store over the demolition. Inspirational music swells as Godzilla shoots his atomic ray into the sky. Rodan shows off a new molten rock design as he flies through sunsets. Mothra shines with bioluminescent wings behind a waterfall. And Ghidorah…well, you have to have at least one sinister bit of darkness in a giant monster movie trailer. Why not a massive one with three heads?

Ken Watanabe and Sally Hawkins reprise their roles from the first film, and are joined by Kyle Chandler and Vera Farmiga. Millie Bobby Brown, who made a huge splash on the sci-fi scene as Eleven in Stranger Things, makes her film debut facing off against even bigger monsters. Michael Dougherty, known for the 2015 holiday horror Krampus, replaces Gareth Edwards in the director’s chair. The film comes out in May 2019.

What did you think of the King of the Monsters trailer? Which new monster are you most excited for? Let us know in the comments!
