Author: Mary Anne Butler

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.

We knew it was likely a teaser or something for the upcoming “Jurassic World: Dominion” was coming this week. It is, just not the way we were anticipating? Director Colin Trevorrow posted this morning that an extended ‘special preview’ of the 6th film in the “Jurassic Park” franchise would be coming with the theatrical debut of “Fast 9,” the 9th “Fast and Furious” installment. We know from other various teases that this dinotastic flick will feature some feathered creatures this time around, possibly diving into the various theories of dinosaur-to-birds evolution. As far as we can tell, this preview will…

(Yes, obviously it would canonically be the Marvel Family, but that’s an entire legalese thing we’re not gonna get into today.) Zachary Levi is back as Billy Batson aka Shazam, and will be joined by Asher Angel, and Jack Dylan Grazer. Rachel Zegler, Dame Helen Mirren, and Lucy Liu are all joining the sequel. This morning, a brand new trailer for “Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins” hit, and we’re pretty excited about the idea of seeing it in a real theater. You can see the first trailer here. The…

Remember that episode of “The Simpsons” when Homer finds a box of Animal Crackers from the 60s, and the family wins a free trip to Africa? This is kind of like that, but with less hungry hungry hippos. The New England Aquarium in Boston, MA honored one person’s ‘return anytime’ ticket that was almost 40 years old! On June 11th 2021, Rachel Carle produced a ticket her great aunt Catherine Cappiello had received for the aquarium in the hopes that maybe they’d honor it. Apparently, the last of these types of ‘late gate’ tickets was issued in 1983. “I walked up to…

Marvel Studios’ may have more prequel stories to tell about their heroes. This isn’t really surprising, considering the long histories associated with the Avengers characters. But, if all goes well with the rollout of “Black Widow,” fans can possibly expect to see more of that kind of film. Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige addressed the possibility during the recent virtual press junket for “Black Widow,” not really saying for sure, but getting as close as someone in his position can. He was asked if fans could expect to see additional prequel or backstory films (or even Disney+ shows) in the…

We’re no strangers to the fast paced world of collecting. Sealing, slabbing, and rating of comics and other collectibles is something we love to cover, especially when it’s something rare like a 9.0 Action Comics #1.
