The rights for the New York Times bestseller Playground by Richard Powers have been secured by Warner Bros. Pictures. Plan B, Timothée Chalamet (Dune) and Brian Swardstrom are attached to produce. This is still in pre-production but with these particular names attached it’s likely that Chalamet will star. Richard Powers’ Playground (2024) is a novel exploring artificial intelligence, environmental decay, and human connection. The book is focused on the Pacific island of Makatea. Following four characters—a tech mogul, a writer, an oceanographer, and a sculptor, their lives converge as they confront the ethical, social, and ecological consequences of building tech-driven floating cities. Ryan Gosling (Project Hail Mary) has teased that he’s in talks with Marvel to play Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider. Previously blocked bodycam footage of Justin Timberlake’s 2024 drunk driving arrest has been released. Unfortunately for him, this is happening right in time for a potential NSYNC tour for 2026.
