Season 2 of  HBO’s “The Last of Us” is ready to go once the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes end. The 24-time Emmy-nominated series, based on the popular PlayStation game, was renewed back in January. The renewal shocked absolutely no one considering the first season of quickly became a cultural phenomenon. Dark Star Pictures has acquired the North American rights to the upcoming teen horror film “Abigail.” The new movie is directed by Melissa Vitello (“Community Theater Christmas”), from a script by Gunnar Garrett (“22”). Set in 1976, “Abigail” centers around troubled teen Abigail Cole (Ava Cantrell). She and her mother move to a small town in Alabama to escape her violent past. She quickly befriends the boy next door, Lucas (Tren Reed-Brown), who is mercilessly bullied by kids at school. Steve Harwell, the original lead singer of Smash Mouth, has passed away. This news comes just one day after we learned he’d entered hospice care. His manager confirmed Harwell entered end-of-life care at home on September 3rd. News of his passing came earlier this morning, on September 4th. Harwell had been experiencing serious medical issues for several years. He had been diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, heart failure, and Wernicke’s encephalopathy. He was in the final stage of liver failure ,which he had been treating at a hospital. Health complications were a contributing factor to him retiring from Smash Mouth 2 years…

Multi-Oscar winner Kevin Costner says he may take the Paramount series “Yellowstone” to court over the $12 million he is allegedly owed. This is just the latest entry into a months-long dispute between the actor and the production. “It’s a little disappointing that [it’s the] No. 1 show on television [and] I’m not participating. I’ll probably go to court over it,” Costner said during his divorce hearing. Christine Baumgartner, his wife of 19 years, filed for divorce in May. The animated feature “The Canterville Ghost” will be getting a theatrical release in the US courtesy of Shout! Studios and Blue Fox Entertainment. Singer Taylor Swift’s new Eras tour concert film has scared off the upcoming horror film, “The Exorcist: Believer.” Universal has shifted the film’s release date to October 6th, a week earlier than planned, to avoid competing with Swift.
