Heath Andrews has been a student of pop culture ever since he found himself to be the only student in 3rd grade who regularly watched "Get Smart" on Nick-At-Nite. Ever since then he's been engrossed in way too much media with a growing collection of music, books, comics, TV on DVD box sets, and a video game collection that could rival a brick and mortar store. Prior to writing for Nerdbot he's written for Review You, MyAnimeList, and various advertising companies. Since 2016 he's run his own YouTube channel under the moniker of The Critical Android where he livestreams video games and uploads podcasts about pop culture and Frasier.

Live-action Superman tv series “Smallville” embraced the motto of “no tights, no flights.” Across 10 seasons split evenly between The WB network and The CW, we watched a teenage Clark Kent (Tom Welling) face-off against his friend and adversary, Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum). Well, not across all 10 seasons, there were some where Lex wasn’t around…it’s a long story. The point is, “Smallville” has a legacy of being one of the longest running adaptations of Superman outside of the comics. Even though the series ended in 2011, the legacy lives on in being a template for what The CW programming…

After quite a bit of teasing and plot hints, we finally have more to discuss about “Rise of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie.” Many of us at Nerdbot are die-hard TMNT fans, and have been mourning the absence of our heroes in a half-shell content over the last couple years. With the fantastic “Shredder’s Revenge” game, the Cowabunga Collection on the way, and now the trailer for the latest TMNT film, we have some reason to be happy for Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, and Donatello. We’ve known for a bit now that “Rise of the TMNT: The Movie” was coming.…

Oh “Frasier,” how we love thee here at Nerdbot. Stop us if you’ve heard this before but we have kind of a thing for the beloved sitcom. So much so that one staff writer has been running “The Frasier Analysis” podcast for the better part of five years. We were obviously very excited for the “Frasier” revival news. While promoting an upcoming talkshow appearance, “Frasier” star Kelsey Grammer teased the revival. The first topic they discuss is the “key” to the success of the show. Grammer says the key is Frasier himself. Now, to mix a little bit of commentary…

Misinformation can quickly spread across the internet. There’s also the problem of misleading headlines that can sometimes inaccurately sum up a story to make it appear more attractive. When you combine this with people’s tendency to glance at headlines without reading an article, misinformation can spread even quicker. One of the latest examples of this comes from a recent story making headlines about a Nintendo fan. This person supposedly spent over $40,000 in stock in order to “ask Nintendo executives about making a new F-Zero game.” Let’s take a look at the headline that ran on Kotaku on June 30th,…

About three weeks ago I finally managed to get my hands on a PlayStation 5. It wasn’t easy. It required having some contacts at GameStop, and being willing to accept a trade-in. But considering my PS4 is a base generation model from the first year of release, I really wanted to upgrade to something more powerful. But between the pandemic, supply chain issues, scalpers, semi-conductor shortage, and everything else under the sun- I ended up having to wait a year and a half into the console’s life-cycle to finally pick one up. So, was it worth it? There are several…

Of all the properties to emerge from the 1980s, few of them have proven as enduringly popular as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. What started as an independent comic in 1984 turned into an animated series in 1987, a feature film in 1990, as well as sequels and follow-up series in the decades afterwards. One of the more recent iterations was the short-lived Nickelodeon animated series, “Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” that ran from 2018 – 2020. It was previously announced that the show would be getting a follow-up film, and now we have images of what to…

Given how crazy the world is right now, you may be surprised to know that Cameron Diaz has not starred in a film since 2014’s “Annie.” That seems like something you would’ve already known, right? One of the biggest names in Hollywood throughout the mid ’90s and early 2000’s retired in 2014. Or maybe you did know that and just didn’t care about it. Either way, the retirement period is over as Diaz is coming back to major motion pictures thanks to Netflix’s upcoming film, “Back in Action.” Diaz’s first film was 1994’s “The Mask.” The movie helped solidify her…

Competition between streaming platforms has continued to become increasingly heated over the last several months. While this is nothing unexpected in business, the battle between platforms has seen an increase in news coverage because of everything happening at Netflix. While it’s much too early to consider Netflix down for the count, there is more evidence now to suggest customers aren’t as happy with the platform as they once were. According to surveys from Whip Media, Netflix is getting a far more mixed reception than it’s used to. In terms of overall satisfaction, Netflix has dropped 10% year-to-year with a score…
