Heath Andrews has been a student of pop culture ever since he found himself to be the only student in 3rd grade who regularly watched "Get Smart" on Nick-At-Nite. Ever since then he's been engrossed in way too much media with a growing collection of music, books, comics, TV on DVD box sets, and a video game collection that could rival a brick and mortar store. Prior to writing for Nerdbot he's written for Review You, MyAnimeList, and various advertising companies. Since 2016 he's run his own YouTube channel under the moniker of The Critical Android where he livestreams video games and uploads podcasts about pop culture and Frasier.

Last week, a troup of monkeys escaped from a testing facility in South Carolina. Come to find out, it’s not just the primates on the loose. Because a pair of escaped emus are also running wild. Better yet, their names are Thelma and Louise. Private animal owner Sam Morace posted about the missing animals on Facebook a few days ago. The animals escaped about three months ago. (Though the post didn’t include an explanation of why he was posting about it now.) Law enforcement is aware of the situation, but apparently the animals are not easy to catch as Morace…

Unless you spent your formative years watching television in the mid ’90s, you may not remember the force of nature that was the groundbreaking medical program, “ER.” Created by author Michael Crichton, the show debuted in 1994, and was a ratings juggernaut for years. It helps that the creator of “ER” had become attached to Steven Spielberg thanks in no small part to their “Jurassic Park” success. Considering the television industry’s love of reboots and revivals, it should come as little shock to hear that Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) wanted to bring the show back. Negotiations for a revisit apparently…

There are a lot of ways to try to claim and exaggerate damage to a vehicle, but few would go so far as to falsely claim a bear attack. Fewer still would have video footage of that bear attack. Even fewer would actually dress up as a bear to be filmed in the car to make it look like an attack. But that’s what happened in California recently. Three residents of the Glendale area, Ruben Tamrazian, Ararat Chirkinian, Vahe Muradkhanyan, and Alfiya Zuckerman of Valley Village, were arrested on insurance fraud and conspiracy charges on November 13th. Back in January…

It’s been two years since Netflix debuted its immediately hit show, “Wednesday.” “The Addams Family” side-story starring Jenna Orgeta was widely viewed and generally well-received by critics and audiences. A second season was all but guaranteed and while that’s still forthcoming, we do know a certain singer will be making characters go “Gaga” when the next chapter of Wednesday’s saga unfolds. 3-time Oscar nominee Lady Gaga is headed to Nevermore for season 2 of the Netflix series. Ortega had previously alluded to this being something she’d like to see. “I think Mrs. Thornhill and Wednesday had this weird mentor relationship…

The marketing machine behind films and television shows is a behemoth. There’s so much merchandising that spews out and some of that has come at a cost to the source material. You may have seen articles online about how sometimes an action figure box might accidentally reveal plot information or characters ahead of time. Well, in the case of the upcoming “Wicked Part 1” film, let’s say that the boxes for some of the dolls gave a link to a website thats revealing in a different way. As you may know, the stage musical “Wicked” is receiving a film adaptation.…

Sometimes life just hands you stories to write about where the jokes are just too easy. You’ve already heard them all before, I’m sure. That’s why we’ll skip past those, and dive right into what you’re here for- The wild horde of rampaging monkeys loose in South Carolina, that may or may not usher in the beginning of a real “Planet of the Apes” or “12 Monkeys” scenario. Tucked away in the southern part of South Carolina is the Alpha Genesis Primate Research Center. The lab currently has a 2.5-star review on Google, but a good chunk of reviews have…

I know what you’re immediately thinking, “isn’t Redbox out of business?” Yes, yes it is. The DVD kiosk company went belly up in July of this year and filed for bankruptcy. Not the fun kind of restructuring chapter 11 bankruptcy either; they went for the chapter 7 liquidation kind. Something had to be done with those kiosks and technology/media enthusiasts have bought them up when possible. It would seem their purchases came with a quirk- none of them will dispense “Twister.” You know, “Twister,” the 1996 disaster movie starring the late Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt? Yup, that movie is…

Stephen King is a name that commands respect and sometimes derision. Virtually everyone knows of his works but depending on what works someone has been exposed to will heavily shape their opinion of him. If people only know him from shoddy ’90s TV mini-series and things like “Dreamcatcher,” then they probably aren’t going to have a good time. But die-hard aficionados of King know the depth of the man’s work, with the crown jewel of it being “The Dark Tower” series. That’s the series that pulls it all together and more. And we don’t know if King is just messing…

Did you know that Wayne Enterprises has turned into a real company? Yes, the Bruce Wayne-owned, Gotham City business has been given a real-life branding as a luxury item retailer. Looking through their website reveals a bunch of completely unnecessary and overpriced items that just scream, “buy me to show other people how rich you are.” And if that’s your kind of thing, awesome. But amidst the pianos, shoes, and watches sits another item of interest; the Batmobile from Christopher Nolan’s take on the Caped Crusader. Yes, the Batmobile known as the Tumbler. Now, we’re not talking about a model…

In the year 2000 the art of the parody film had been waning. What had been so successfully done by people like Mel Brooks and the Zucker, Abrahams, Zucker team (“Airplane!” “Hot Shots,” “The Naked Gun”) had fallen by the wayside. It was time for something to come back to riff on movies and the Wayans Brothers (Marlon Wayans, Keenan Ivory Wayans, Shawn Wayans) were up to the task with “Scary Movie.” The series of films would go on to span five titles in 13 years, but the Wayans Brothers were only involved in the first two. Now, almost 12…
