We wish every father out there a very happy Father’s Day. Whether you have biological children, step-children, adoptive children, fur children, or even plant children, you are a dad and this is your day. So in honor of all the dads out there, we wanted to share with you with some of our favorite fictional fathers.

    In no particular order:

    Albus Dumbledore

DANIEL RADCLIFFE, MICHAEL GAMBON “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.” Warner Bros. Pictures

While the head of Hogwarts had no children of his own, he did care for Harry, Ronald and Hermoine. He believed and protected the three when it mattered. He helped shape Harry and the others into the heroes they needed to be (mostly from behind the scenes)

    Newt Scamander

Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander in “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” Warner Bros. Pictures

I know what you may think, Newt is not a dad nor did he care for any children. But the reason I say he is a dad, look at the way he cared for all the creatures, he was sad when they were hurt, worried when they were missing, and he cared for them all regardless of what they were. What better dad qualities would you want in a character?

    Uncle Ben

Cliff Robertson as Uncle Ben in “Spider-Man” Sony Pictures

He may not have been Peter’s biological dad, but he treated Peter as if he were his own son. He gave Peter the wisdom he needed to use his powers for good.

    Carlisle Cullen

Peter Facinelli as Carlisle Cullen in “Twilight” Summit Entertainment

Carlisle has made the list because of his compassion that allows him to care for human patients without being affected by the smell of blood. He also cares deeply about all of his “children” and is always willing to help them out throughout all of their struggles.

    Gomez Addams

Raul Julia as Gomez Addams in “The Addams Family” Paramount Studios

He may be creepy, and he may be kooky, but he was a fantastic dad. He always listened to his children and took an interest in what they liked. Plus, look at the way the man treated Morticia, he truly is a fantastic father all around.

    Uncle Iroh

    Nickelodeon

Excluding a few Fire Lords, the world of “Avatar” is filled with a lot of great and well-meaning dads. However, Uncle Iroh takes the ultimate cake. From the beginning, Iroh has worked to soothe anger inside his nephew, Prince Zuko. He lost his own son in the war and, as a result, understands loss and works to correct the mistakes of his nation.

    Master Splinter

    Fred Wolf Films

Splinter had to teach his adoptive sons so much to protect them from the real world and such, he believes in them, teaches them, and knows that they will always do him proud. He could have left them to fend and learn on their own, but he became their father and they became his sons and teaches the turtles that true power lies in believing in one another.

    Mufasa

    Disney Animation Studios

King Mufasa is truly a good father in the movie. When Mufasa is showing Simba the land and having a one-on-one with his son. It shows how the quality time he spent with Simba played an important role in his child’s life.

    Yondu Udonta

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2..Yondu (Michael Rooker) Marvel Studios 2017

Sure he may not be father of the year, but Yondu raised Peter and taught him everything he needed to know to grow into the man he is today. While he didn’t show how much of a dad he was, but in the end, when he sacrificed himself to save Peter, he made up for it in the end.

    Darth Vader

    LucasFilm / Disney

I will always think of Vader as a father figure, I mean besides all the “evilness” within him, but, they manipulated him into being what he was, but Luke always saw hope and the light side still within his father, and he was rewarded with that in Vader’s final moments.

    Professor Henry Jones Sr.

Sean Connery as Professor Henry Jones Sr. in “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” Paramount Pictures

When we meet Professor Jones, we notice he has his son’s roguish charms, balls-out bravery and inability to resist an archaeological adventure. Henry gets them out of several issues, watches proudly as Indy defeats Nazis and is heartbroken when he thinks his boy’s plunged off a cliff. They may bicker, but there’s a deep affectionate bond between the two.

    Uncle Phil

James Avery and Will Smith in “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” NBC Universal

Uncle Phil was the ultimate dad. We saw that over many seasons of the show; he relished in the joy of finding creative ways to discipline his kids. He busted out classic dad moves. He always taught his children the most important things in life. He had fun with his kids when needed. He appreciated a good joke. Most of all, he was always there for his kids when they needed him.

    Din Djarin, The Mandalorian

    Disney

The fathers – and father figures – of the Star Wars Universe have not got an excellent track record, but Mando shows what a true father should be like. He protects the child through thick and thin; he breaks his code he followed his whole life just because of the child. He is even heartbroken watching the child go off to hone his abilities, like a father watching their kid go off to school for the very first time.

Kyle MacLachlan, Jürgen Prochnow “Dune” Universal Pictures

[Editor’s note: honorable mention to Duke Leto Atreides.]

So, to all the fathers out there, fictional and real, we wish you a very happy and safe Father’s Day!
