Comedian-turned-actor Dane Cook will be diving back into the world of horror for the first time since 2011’s Detention. He is set to star in the upcoming short film, Medium Rare. The project is written and directed by Jeff Barker, father of Obsession filmmaker Curry Barker.

Medium Rare follows a man trapped in a bar, where reality begins to unravel in increasingly disturbing ways. Production on the psychological horror short is slated to begin in Los Angeles later this summer.
Cook will star alongside Clue’s Lesley Ann Warren. Barker has previously worked as a script consultant on Obsession. He also hosts The Screenplay Lab podcast, which is devoted to analyzing and dissecting screenplays.
“Medium Rare is a short story I wrote eight years ago. I’m honored by the team of people helping me bring this project to life,” Barker said in a statement.
We’ll keep you posted on updates about Medium Rare as the short develops.
