Bus Stop Featured in The Amazing Digital Circus Ep.9 May Become a Pop Culture Destination

One of the things that The Amazing Digital Circus did in episode 9 was use St. Louis as the place that the characters lived in. Not only that but the last scene shows the real Pomni, Ragatha, Kinger human iterations get on a bus stop. Not just any bus stop though. It happened to be near Forest Park, right next to where I relocated for my husband’s job. It was one of the coolest things to be in the movie theater during the first showing and realizing that St. Louis was a part of TADC history. I thought at first that maybe they localized it for different locations but that would surely be too much work. Right? No, they didn’t. And the whole theater realizing that at once had everyone all aflutter.

Anyway all this to say that since I live so close to where they shot that scene, I get the unique experience of watching it get art tributes taped all over it. My kids and I went out to visit the stop and there were cute little notes, ones saying things like “Thank you for TADC” or “Kinger is my favorite. That was especially cool to find since the shirt my daughter was wearing was a Kinger shirt. He’s her favorite too. My youngest is obsessed with Jax. I’m a little worried about her future dating experience because like me she’s into sassy troubled characters. Seriously Jax has big ex boyfriend/girlfriend energy.

    What People are Saying

There has been talk in forums online saying that some people want it to be a landmark. But others are pushing back saying it’s not THAT important. To be fair the last episode just came out and we’re not even sure that this show will last in the zeitgeist that long. Something has to prove itself to be iconic before anything like that could be considered. Even then I think a plaque would suffice.

There have been reports of city workers taking off the art and tributes for the show. A councilperson clarified that it was because that particular bus stop was made of glass because it keeps line of sight open when there’s inclement weather. So that bus goers can see all around and stay safe should anything happen.

So whether or not this becomes a pop culture icon, or a bucket list addition is still to be seen. For now fans of TADC can make it a destination on a road trip if they want. But until the city actually approves it, we probably won’t see it becoming more than what it is. A bus stop.
