Mythic Quest’s Chase Yi will star in the 8th installment of the Paranormal Activity franchise. The upcoming film is written and directed by Ian Tuason (Undertone). Like previous installments, it’s backed by Paramount Pictures and the now-merged Blumhouse Atomic Monster.

Plot details, along with any other castings, are still under wraps. But everyone is guessing it will stay a found footage style film.
Paranormal Activity franchise creator Oren Peli will produce for Solana Films. James Wan and Jason Blum are producing for Blumhouse Atomic Monster. Michael Clear and Judson Scott executive produce for Blumhouse Atomic Monster, with Alayna Glasthal overseeing. Steven Schneider executive produces for Room 101, Inc., Dan Slater, and Cody Calahan.
The first Paranormal Activity film was written and directed by Peli and hit theaters in 2009. It tells the story of a couple being harassed each night by an increasingly disturbing demonic presence. Peli shot the film in his own home with a digital camera, and actors were only given outlines, not full scripts. This rough shooting style gave the film a raw, real feeling that audiences loved.
It was a huge hit, raking in almost $194 million worldwide. Not to mention, spawning 2010’s Paranormal Activity 2, 2011’s Paranormal Activity 3, 2012’s Paranormal Activity 4, 2014’s The Marked Ones, 2015’s The Ghost Dimension, and 2021’s Next of Kin. Collectively, the films have taken in over $900 million globally.
The 8th Paranormal Activity film is currently slated to hit theaters on May 21, 2027. We’ll keep you posted on updates as the project develops.
