The theatrical finale of The Amazing Digital Circus has done a fantastic job of showing audiences just how well limited showings of YouTube/Online originating shows can do. What fans knew would happen happened and the last act knocked our expectations out of the park.

Released exclusively in cinemas on June 4, The Amazing Digital Circus: The Last Act earned an estimated $36.6 million worldwide during its opening weekend. The finale played in more than 5,700 cinemas across the United States, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Mexico.

Strong presale demand clued us all in about the film’s potential success before release. Several cinemas reported sellout screenings. The high demand led to expanded showtimes and additional theater bookings. In the United States, distributor Fathom Entertainment reported more than $20.2 million in revenue across 2,200 theaters during the four-day opening period.

Internationally, the European distributor Piece of Magic Entertainment reported $12.7 million (€11 million) from approximately 3,000 screens across 38 markets. The film topped opening-day charts in major territories including the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Poland, and the Benelux region, while finishing among the top five weekend releases across most European markets.

Several other countries also delivered particularly strong results. The United Kingdom and Ireland generated $3.5 million, Germany brought in nearly $1.9 million, and France earned approximately $1.8 million despite a limited release schedule.

Industry execs praised the results as evidence that fan-driven content can successfully transition from digital platforms to theatrical releases. Both Fathom Entertainment and Piece of Magic Entertainment highlighted the enthusiasm of the franchise’s community and the growing demand for event-style cinema experiences built around established online audiences. This marks a change in the movie going experience and could possibly be what saves theaters in the future. It’s not what anyone expected but here we are!
