The Final Supergirl Trailer Is Here, and It’s Packed

DC Studios dropped the final Supergirl trailer on June 3, giving fans their last real look before the film hits theaters. In it, Kara Zor-El comes to grips with her sense of responsibility to help people across the cosmos, just like her cousin, Superman.

While trying to drink away her pain after losing her planet and people, Kara stumbles across Ruthye Marye Knoll, a young girl whose father was killed by Krem of the Yellow Hills, a vile villain who leads a band of Brigands to ensure destruction across the galaxy. It’s a setup pulled straight from the source material, with a few noticeable additions.

The new trailer features a cameo from David Corenswet‘s Superman, in a flashback to when Kara first landed on Earth at age 15, with Superman giving her her first superhero costume and letting her know the bright colors are so everyone knows they’re the good guys.

The June release will also mark Lobo’s cinematic debut, with Aquaman star Jason Momoa taking on the iconic DC bounty hunter. His presence here is one of the bigger departures from the page. Unlike the comic book, the intergalactic bounty hunter Lobo has a role in the adventure.

Supergirl will be directed by Craig Gillespie and scripted by Ana Nogueira, with the film taking inspiration from the comic series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, written by Tom King and illustrated by Bilquis Evely. Gillespie’s previous credits include I, Tonya, Cruella, and the Fright Night remake.

The film stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills, Emily Beecham as Alura, Momoa as Lobo, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, and Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll.

Ever since Supergirl’s first trailer dropped in December 2025, the movie has faced a bit of an uphill battle with select audiences, but its box office narrative is finally taking shape now that early tracking numbers have hit the board. The cosmic epic is currently eyeing a $55 million-plus domestic debut when it touches down on June 26.

While that projected figure comfortably clears worst-case scenarios, it still signals a steep hill to climb compared to the massive $125 million launch generated by James Gunn’s Superman last summer. A $55M starting point lands Kara Zor-El right in the historical ballpark of The Flash ($55M) and Shazam! ($53.5M), a territory that will undoubtedly keep the pressure dialed up on DC Studios to ensure the film finds its legs during a crowded summer slate.

Still, the bigger DCU picture looks bright for Kara. Alcock is already confirmed to reprise her role in Man of Tomorrow, with rumors circulating that Momoa’s Lobo will also appear. Supergirl is scheduled to be released by Warner Bros. Pictures in the United States on June 26, 2026, as part of DCU’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.

Supergirl is one of three DCU titles releasing in 2026, with Lanterns set to air on HBO starting August 16 and Clayface hitting theaters on October 23.
