We are very sorry to report the passing of legendary Japanese writer, director, special effects, and makeup artist Yoshihiro Nishimura. The news first broke late yesterday by Azz, a French YouTuber who specializes in horror movies and friend of Nishimura. It is being reported that he passed away due to “liver cirrhosis“ after a 2 week hospitalization.

At just 59 years old Nishimura had a 3 decades long career and is an icon in the J-splatter scene. Writing and directing larger than life titles like Tokyo Gore Police, Helldriver, Meatball Machine Kodoku, and “The Hell Chef” segment in The Profane Exhibit. Often blending absurd black humor with over the top gore and body horror. Creating a style that is uniquely his own, and inspiring countless other filmmakers.
At this time, it seems like his last film, Geisha War, will receive a posthumous release.
Our deepest sympathies are with his loved ones at this time.
