NetEnt is a long-running developer of online slot games, with a wide range of titles that follow simple layouts and clear mechanics. Over time, some games have remained more widely known due to their structure, symbols, and features. The following overview looks at five of these Irish online casino titles in a neutral and factual way, based on common details found in game information sections and reviews.

    Starburst

Starburst was released in 2013 and is one of the most recognisable titles from NetEnt, often noted for its simple layout. It uses the standard five-reel format and features ten fixed paylines and a space theme built around coloured gemstones. It has been widely listed among the most common NetEnt titles across different platforms. The structure is straightforward, with matching combinations forming from left to right and also in reverse across the paylines. And the background is rather basic, centred in space surrounded by two planets at the top and bottom of the screen. Symbols include different coloured symbols as lower valued symbols, and the BAR and 7 symbol as higher valued symbols. There’s also a starburst wild symbol (only appearing on reels 2 to 4), which is the bonus feature, and can become an expanding wild, which can cover a full reel and trigger a respin.

    Gonzo’s Quest

Gonzo’s Quest has been in circulation since 2011 and is often referenced as one of the earlier examples of this type of slot design. It’s another long-standing NetEnt title that introduces a different style of gameplay compared to traditional reel spins. The structure uses five reels and twenty paylines, but instead of spinning reels, the game uses cascading mechanics. The theme follows a Spanish explorer searching for lost cities, with visuals based on stone symbols and jungle and a stone temple setting. If a matching combination occurs, the symbols disappear, and new ones drop down. Symbols include carved stone icons, with lower and higher value designs, along with a wild symbol that can substitute for others.   The scatter symbol can trigger free spins, referred to as free falls in this game. During both the base game and the bonus feature, there are also multipliers in this slot.

    Twin Spin

Twin Spin takes a different approach by using a more classic visual style, including a simple reel layout with a theme based on traditional fruit machine symbols. Twin Spin uses five reels and 243 paylines, where matching combinations can be formed from left to right and right to left, depending on the symbol positions. The overall presentation is less detailed compared to other NetEnt releases, and standard symbols include fruit icons, bars, and sevens. The main feature is the twin reel system, where two or more reels can lock together and display the same symbols. These reels can expand across multiple positions, sometimes covering the full set of reels.

    Dead or Alive 2

Dead or Alive 2 was released in 2019 and is a follow-up to the earlier NetEnt release, Dead or Alive, and uses a western setting with a focus on outlaws and desert scenes. It is known for having a more detailed structure compared to similar titles, with several different feature modes available within the same game. The structure of Dead or Alive 2 includes five reels and nine paylines, which is much lower than many other slots in its category, and the game includes a base mode and multiple bonus modes that can be triggered through scatter symbols. The symbols include card values for lower valued symbols and character symbols for higher valued ones, along with a wild symbol that plays a key role in the bonus features. Each bonus mode changes how the reels behave, and if 3 or more scatters land, the free spins feature is triggered, and there is a choice of 3 different free spins games awarded: Old Saloon, High Noon Saloon, and Train Heist. And for each of the games, 12 free spins are awarded initially.

    Divine Fortune

Divine Fortune, released in 2017, is based on a theme related to classical mythology, with symbols that include figures and objects associated with that setting. Divine Fortune is often noted for including a jackpot system, which sets it apart from standard slots. The structure of Divine Fortune uses five reels and twenty paylines, with a standard spinning format, and the base game includes regular combinations. The background features two marbled women on each side of the playgrid with dots of flames rising below them. The layout follows a familiar pattern seen in many NetEnt games, with a mix of base gameplay and additional features. Symbols include lower-value card icons, and higher-value symbols include characters from the theme, along with the wild that substitutes for all symbols except free spins symbols. In terms of bonus features, there is a falling wilds re-spins feature that shifts down wilds one position on the reels and the feature is awarded. The wild on wild feature is activated if a wild lands behind a falling wild, and the affected wild will expand to cover the entire reel. There is also a free spins symbol that awards a set number of free spins, depending on how many are landed.

    Summary

Overall, these five titles show a range of different approaches within NetEnt’s catalogue, with some focus on simple layouts and repeated features. The games include additional systems that change how each round plays out, and the differences between them are mainly seen in reel structure, symbol design, and the type of bonus features included
