Episode 11 Recap
Episode 11 of Survivor 50: in the Hands of the Fans was one of the most interesting ones we’ve seen yet. This is especially interesting since last episode when Devens laid it all out at tribal and caused serious upset amongst everyone. But even though he did that he was able to secure an even bigger prize at the end thanks to Mr. Beast’s influence/challenge. Because he went rogue he was able to stay in the game and get Stephanie out.
Initially the episode started out fairly normal. It wasn’t until the challenge did things get interesting. The Challenge itself was one that went quickly and the outcome was unexpected.
Immunity Challenge

This episode’s immunity challenge had each contestant balancing on a triangular shaped platform with footholds on the water. Previously Johnathan had done the same challenge when he was on Survivor 42. He was familiar with it so that could have given him and edge in the competition. He wasn’t the initial winner as Jeff called Tiffany as the champion. It was then that there was a jury called and Jeff went offscreen to consult with the other judges.
Changing Winners

Because Tiffany hadn’t raised her foot when the timer started for the last part of the challenge she was disqualified. Johnathan became the winner and he got one of the best rewards ever. The remaining players were split into groups of 4. The first group consisted of Cirie, Emily, Devens and Tiffany. The second was Ozzy, Rizo, Joe and Aubry. Johnathan was able to vote for each group and each group had to vote one person out.
From Beach to Beach

Johnathan joked at tribal that he got his steps in. He was able to carefully calculate who went home on each side of the beach. He spoke to each person and came up with the best possible scenario for each group which caused quite a bit of chaos for the game itself. And one blindside that kind of felt like a betrayal in the end.
Group One – Cirie, Emily, Devans and Tiffany

Emily came up with a big move that could have kept her in the game if it went off without a hitch. She and Devens spoke about him playing his idol on her. Of course she knew he wouldn’t but she pitched it in order to tell the others in the group to get the heat off her and put the votes on Devens. If he played it on himself he would be safe and the other person voted for would be voted out. That person was supposed to be Cirie.
Cirie played the advantage during the initial vote to split votes on Emily Flippen and Rick Devens, and due to a unique revote rule where the advantage held over, she was able to use the extra vote again to secure Emily’s elimination on Day 21. Emily played her hardest to stay in the game but she ultimately repeated what happened on her season 45 of Survivor where she was also voted out on day 21.
Group Two – Ozzy, Rizzo, Joe, Aubry

Group two had a scenario that hurt to watch. Ozzy had confided in Aubry which was a huge mistake in the end. Because of this Rizzo decided that Ozzy was too much of a liability. Everyone wanted to blindside Ozzy anyway so Rizzo really held the whole game in his hands here. He, Cirie and Ozzy were supposed to make it to the end together. If there was a chance Ozzy could be voted off Rizzo was supposed to tell him so he would play his idol. Instead Rizzo kept quiet and since he did Ozzy did not play his idol. And Cirie who knew that Ozzy was about to be voted off held out hope that Rizzo would tell him to play it.
When Ozzy was voted off, again with an idol in his pocket, you could see that he was hurt. This game he really made a lot of connections with people who he thought had his back. But in Survivor no one is safe. Not even those who truly connect with others. It was hard to watch him leave the island and have his torch snuffed out. But ultimately Jonathan was able to get him out like he was trying to in the previous episode.

Who Will be Voted Off Next on Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans?
If it’s a full player vote and there’s no split we’re anticipating that Aubry will be voted out. She’s the “easy” vote. However Devens is also a big threat. If he doesn’t find another idol after he played his he’s going to be a big target. The smartest vote I think would be Rizzo, Cirie or Jonathan who all seem to be playing the game really well. It feels like they have the game in their pocket and are able to manipulate things in a way that benefits them.
