Pedro Pascal Gets Emotional at “The Mandalorian and Grogu” CCXP Mexico Panel

Pedro Pascal couldn’t hold it together at this weekend’s CCXP Mexico panel for Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu. The actor took the stage at the Banamex Center on Sunday, April 26, in Mexico City. He and director Jon Favreau arrived as unannounced guests at the event.

The moment hit harder than anyone expected.

Pascal opened up about the Disney+ series, saying “As soon as I saw this, I knew that it would be a new authorship of a streaming experience,” before revealing, “But I always had a dream in my heart that it would be on a big screen because that’s how I was developed as a child. I went to the movie theater so much with my family, and I saw the Star Wars movies on the big screen.” He then spoke in Spanish and became emotional, wiping away tears, which sent the crowd into cheers.

After regaining composure, he blew a kiss to the fans, thanking them for their years of support since the show first debuted in 2019.

The Chilean-born actor wore a Mexico men’s World Cup 2026 jersey during the appearance. He added a local touch and the crowd clearly appreciated it.

The Mandalorian and Grogu is a big deal beyond just the emotional moments. The film marks the first Star Wars feature to reach theaters since Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in 2019. Sigourney Weaver and Jeremy Allen White also star in the movie.

Favreau used the panel to spell out what fans can actually expect. He confirmed the film takes place after the events of Season 3, which concluded in 2023. It will follow bounty hunter Din Djarin and Grogu as they defend the New Republic against emerging threats. Favreau said the goal was to “introduce these characters to a new audience,” while telling longtime fans, “we wanted to evolve the relationship. It’s not no longer about the Mandalorian rescuing Grogu. Grogu has leveled up. Now he’s a Mandalorian apprentice studying under Luke Skywalker. He’s coming into his own, and now he’s discovering and unleashing his abilities.”

Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Ian Bryce, and Dave Filoni serve as producers, with a script from Favreau, Filoni, and Noah Kloor.

The CCXP Mexico panel also included an appearance from Grogu himself, with the presentation ending with a screening of the movie’s opening footage.

Disney has officially scheduled The Mandalorian and Grogu for a theatrical release on May 22, 2026.
