There was a lot of magic for Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman at Warner Bros.’ CinemaCon presentation. The duo even debuted exclusive footage from Practical Magic 2 at the Las Vegas event.
The pair reprised their roles as sisters Sally and Gillian Owens. Giving audiences their first real glimpse of what’s to come this fall.

The presentation was immediately lighthearted. Bullock and Kidman appeared holding hands, emerging from a cloud of smoke before Bullock set Kidman up with, “Why do we come here, Nicole?” Prompting the star to deliver her now-iconic AMC line “We come to this place for magic,” to a cheering crowd.

They also shared some actual story details. Bullock teased that Sally is single, and if you’re familiar with the original film, you can probably guess why. Her character now also has two daughters, while Kidman’s character has a black cat. The pair also promised “midnight margaritas, jumping off the roof,” and that the past will catch up to the sisters
This upcoming fantasy film follows the sisters 25 years after the events of the 1998 cult classic. The film is based on Alice Hoffman’s 2021 novel The Book of Magic, the final book in the Practical Magic series. The sequel sees the sisters return as part of a multi-generational family of witches cursed to be loveless for centuries. Vanishing the spell by facing dark secrets and sacrificing for one another.
The new cast is phenomenal. The teaser showed three generations of witches inside the house, with Bullock’s character passing the family trade onto her kids (Joey King and Maisie Williams). The new ensemble also includes the Owens aunts, Frances (Stockard Channing) and Jet (Dianne Wiest). Lee Pace, Xolo Maridueña, and Solly McLeod also bring new blood to the cast. For their exact roles, we’ll just have to wait for the film to release.

Evan Rachel Wood, who played Kylie in the original, was notably absent. She responded to rumours of her return with an Instagram Stories post stating that she was not asked to reprise her role. “It was not in my control or my choice. I would have happily rejoined my sisters.”
Susanne Bier (Bird Box) returns as director, this time from a script co-written by Akiva Goldsman (Twilight), and Georgia Pritchett (Succession). Off camera, Kidman discussed co-star dynamics in a recent Variety cover story, stating, “We’re like sisters. I have so much protection and love for her.”
The release date in theaters was initially set for September 18, 2026. It has now moved up a week to September 11.
