In 2009, Oscar winner Diablo Cody (Juno) wrote the script for Jennifer’s Body, about a possessed high school cheerleader. It was directed by Karyn Kusama (In Treatment) and starred Amanda Seyfried (The Housemaid) and Megan Fox (Five Nights at Freddy’s 2). It was considered a critical commercial failure and became a cultural punchline for genre fans for years.
But 15 years have given Jennifer’s Body the Halloween III treatment. There has been a swell of reevaluation from fans and critics alike. This newfound following has led to rumors of a sequel for years, and Cody has confirmed she is currently writing a script for one.

Jennifer’s Body 2
According to Dread Central, during a panel in Los Angeles, Cody revealed she’s writing a script for Jennifer’s Body 2!
Several key members of the original cast and crew have also indicated they’d be on board to come back.
“We’re making another,” Seyfried told co-star Adam Brody during an interview with Variety last year. Adding, “I’m not doing it without her [Megan Fox].”
Fox’s return to the project is also assumed since she plays the titular role. Though her co-star has joked it could be called “Needy’s Body” in reference to her character, Anita.
“YES! I wanna do a sequel,” Cody told Bloody Disgusting in 2024. “I’m not done with Jennifer’s Body. I just need to find… need to partner with people who believe in it as much as I do and that hasn’t really happened yet. Need someone to believe in it who has a billion dollars.”
“I know [Diablo Cody’s] working on [Jennifer’s Body 2] right now, and I’m very excited to hear what comes of it. I know some of the bones of it, so I’m not going to give anything away, but it sounds fun and crazy like the first film. And I have no doubt that Diablo will do something absolutely incredible with it,” Kusama told Deadline this past October.
We’ll keep you posted on updates about this project as it develops.
