In Japan Denny’s has a chef cat mascot called Dennyas. I just found this out because of a post by Mondo Mascots on Bluesky (also on X) and now I’m honestly disappointed we don’t have them here in America. They feel like something that should exist in the United States. Of course Japan has a million cute things that we just don’t have here. Things like McDonald’s promotions in the region that make me super jealous. Sakura themed foods, tons of interesting flavors and the most kawaii mascot experiences ever.

Imagine walking into your local diner and being greeted by cheerful cat mascots representing Denny’s. It’s the kind of wholesome, family-friendly experience that could turn an ordinary breakfast into something memorable. Not to mention they could boost Denny’s traffic. I know if I found out that there was a mascot running around Denny’s I would be going there with the kids all the time. It would kind of be like those Disney sit down meals where you meet Minnie or Mickey. If the Dennyas began appearing at select locations or during special events, it would instantly make Denny’s feel like more than just a place to grab pancakes. It would become a whole new experience.
A Missed Opportunity… for Now. The Dennyas Could Transform the Denny’s Experience.
Right now, the Dennyas remain something of a novelty in other regions, only seeming to appear for promotions, but they represent a huge opportunity for Denny’s as a brand. With family dining experiences becoming more popular and social media always ready for cute posts, introducing the Dennyas to U.S. restaurants could be an effective way to make breakfast feel special again.
And honestly? Who wouldn’t want to meet a group of friendly diner mascot cats while eating pancakes?
