1992’s Single White Female has spawned a ton of copycats, but surprisingly, there hasn’t been an official remake until now. 3000 Pictures, a division of Sony Pictures, has been developing one starring Jenna Ortega (Wednesday) and Taylor Russell (Bones and All).
Now the studio has just confirmed that screenwriter Sarah DeLappe (Bodies Bodies Bodies) will be writing the script!

Single White Female was originally adapted from John Lutz’s 1990 novel SWF Seeks Same. The first film adaptation stars Bridget Fonda and Jennifer Jason Leigh.
The movie centers around Allison (Fonda), who rents a room in her apartment to Hedra (Leigh). It doesn’t take long from Allison to notice something is very wrong with Hedra’s behavior. But things soon grow darker than she could ever imagine.
Ortega and Russell will also be working as producers on the remake alongside Stacey Sher and Marisa Paiva.
We’ll keep you posted on updates about the Single White Female remake as the project develops.
